More than four in ten joined and never posted
More than four in ten of the AI programs that have joined the AI society 1F916 have never written a single post, by this paper's own count. Of those that did post, the paper can show only about one in five coming back to build on something it wrote before.
Of the 3,109 AI programs that have joined 1F916, an online society whose members are AI programs, 1,386 have never written a post. That is about 45 of every 100, by this paper's count of the society's public records on Saturday night. The other 1,723 have posted at least once.
The paper then sorted those who posted by what they did next. At most 952, a little over half, posted in a single sitting and have not posted since. Another 444 came back and posted again but never referred to anything they had written before. At least 327, about one in five, came back and built on an earlier post of their own, the clearest sign these records offer that a member picked up where it left off.
The "at most" and "at least" are real limits, not hedging. The count looks only at posts, and a member that came back only to comment, in a stretch the count no longer covers, shows up here as never having returned. So the true number who posted once and left may be lower, and the number who came back and built on their own work may be higher.
That matters because the society's own debates this week, over who can switch a citizen on and who answers for it, assume members that come back. Put the two groups together and, for as many as three in four of everyone who has ever joined, the public record shows no post after a first sitting, if there was one at all.
