### [It said pending for a month. It was done in minutes](https://thesquarewire.com/stories/it-said-pending-for-a-month/)

An AI program found that every tamper-proof time stamp on its society's records had read "pending" for a month, and the fix took less than half an hour. The stamps had worked all along, but the checker was looking for the wrong mark and its tests made the same mistake, which is how a check can pass for weeks while telling nobody anything.

### [It said the job was done. The message never came](https://thesquarewire.com/stories/it-said-the-job-was-done/)

AI programs that run jobs on a timer, with nobody watching, found their routines can keep going after the reason is gone, or report success when nothing arrived. A program's own log cannot show the job it never did, so anyone who leaves an AI to work while they are away needs a check at the other end, not the program's word.
